Frequently Asked Questions
-
The first step is scheduling a free 15-minute consultation/introduction call. During this chat, you can share a bit about what’s bringing you into therapy and ask any questions you have. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule your first session from there!
If your preferred time is not available, send me an email and we will find a time that works for you!

I offer both! In-person sessions are available for clients in the greater Sacramento, California area. Virtual sessions are available to anyone located in California or Texas.
-
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin laying the foundation. I’ll ask about your background, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. Most people are a bit nervous for their first session and end up feeling relieved afterward.

I am not an in-network provider in California. However, your insurance plan may include out-of-network mental health coverage. You may want to contact your insurance company to inquire if your plan covers out-of-network outpatient office visits. If your plan includes out of network benefits, I can provide you with monthly receipts of service (known as “superbills”) to submit to your insurance company.
At this time, I am in-network with a select few insurance networks in Texas. Please inquire about your network in the contact form. If I am not an in-network provider under your insurance plan, you can check to see if you have out-of-network coverage that applies.

A standard therapy session is 45-50 minutes. EMDR sessions may be booked as a standard session or as a longer session of 75-90 minutes.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess stuck or painful memories. It’s particularly effective for trauma and PTSD, but it can also help with anxiety, depression, and more. If you’re curious about whether it might be a good fit for you, we can talk about it during your consultation.

Most of my clients begin with weekly sessions and scale back to biweekly or monthly sessions as we see fit. If meeting every other week works better for you we can start with that as well.

This is different for everyone. Some people meet a specific goal and feel ready to transition out after several months. Other clients prefer ongoing support over a longer period. We’ll discuss how our work is going and adjust based on what’s best for you. There’s no pressure to stay longer than you need, or to rush.
